At the beginning of this academic year, Fórum Civil organized the 5th Edition of Under Construction, which took place between the 22nd and 29th of September.

It was a week with various activities with the main objective of introducing Civil Engineering to the new students of LEC and putting them in contact with professionals in the sector and practical situations.

The event consisted of the following activities:

• the construction of the Ponte de Grades was carried out in Jardim Norte on September 22nd in collaboration with the coordination of the LEC and MEC course. A Sunset Party followed with ambient music. Its inauguration was on September 25th and was attended by the President of IST, Professor Rogério Colaço. The dismantling of the Ponte de Grades took place on September 29th;
• the visit to the DECivil Laboratories: the Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment Laboratory, the Geotechnics Laboratory and the Structures and Strength of Materials Laboratory took place on September 26th;
• the Alumni Talks, which was attended by Eng. Xavier Ferreira from PLACER, Eng. Lourenço Fernandes from JETSJ and Eng. Nuno Marques from Grupo SANJOSE, in the Congress Center, room 02.2, on the 26th of September;
• the conference on the Expansion of the Circular Line of the Metropolitano de Lisboa, at the Congress Center, on September 26th, room 02.2, featured the intervention of Eng. Rui Pina from the Metropolitano de Lisboa, Eng. Sandra Ferreira and Eng. Gonçalo Mateus from COBA and Professor Alexandre Pinto on September 26th;
• the visit to the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC), the Hydraulics and Environment Departments, in the morning, and the Structures Department, in the afternoon, took place on September 28th;
• and, finally, in recreational activities, such as a Quiz Night, at the Dejavu Lounge Bar and the Barbecue at the BBQ space of the Instituto Superior Técnico Student Association (AEIST).

In numbers, this edition saw the participation of more than 260 students in the various events, with 8 activities and 10 partner companies and support.
