The celebrations of the Dia Regional do Engenheiro 2023 began on the 20th of May, in the district of Santarém, with emphasis on the Solemn Session, in Alcanena.
In this ceremony, chaired by President Fernando de Almeida Santos, Engineer Rita Bento, the first Portuguese full professor woman of structures, was honored.
Professor Rita Bento has developed a profuse and intense scientific activity, is a member of the executive committee of the European Association of Earthquake Engineering, coordinates the Técnico+ Rehabilitation Specialization Programme, chairs subcommittee 8 of the Portuguese Technical Commission for National Eurocodes Standardization and is a member of the Technical-Scientific Council of the ReSist Programme, Programa Municipal de Promoção da Resiliência Sísmica do parque Edificado, Privado e Particular e das Infraestruturas Urbanas Municipais of the Municipality of Lisbon.
