On January 12, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, the Inaugural Lecture by Professor Mariana Pestana will take place in Room 4.41 at DECivil.
Under the theme “Architectures of Conviviality: Towards a Posthuman Spatial Practice”, the seminar proposes a critical reflection on the role of architecture in the transition from a humanist world to a posthuman paradigm. Drawing on an interdisciplinary research process, the session explores how architecture can respond to the current context of multi-crisis, acknowledging interdependencies between people, animals, technologies, minerals, stars, and other forms of existence.
The presentation will introduce spatial practices and methodologies grounded in listening, empathy, and fiction, which make it possible to imagine the world from alternative perspectives and to rehearse ways of designing more-than-human forms of conviviality.
This Inaugural Lecture represents an important moment of reflection and debate for the academic community, particularly for students, faculty members, and researchers in the fields of architecture, engineering, and the environment.
