Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment strengthens international ties through new partnership between Técnico and the Chinese Scholarship Council

Instituto Superior Técnico has recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), reinforcing opportunities for mobility and research between Portugal and China.
As part of this partnership, the CSC delegation visited, among others, the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment, where they had the opportunity to learn about some of the department’s main laboratories and research projects, in a tour guided by Professor João Ramôa Correia. The group was welcomed at the Structures and Materials Strength Laboratory and the Construction Laboratory, where they observed first-hand the facilities dedicated to studying the behavior of materials and structures, as well as the technologies used in seismic simulations and experimental testing.
For DECivil, this collaboration opens new perspectives for academic and scientific exchange, allowing students and researchers to develop joint projects and share knowledge with leading institutions in China.
This initiative is part of Técnico’s internationalization strategy and reinforces DECivil’s role as a center for advanced research, open to global cooperation and innovation across various areas of engineering.
