DECivil at Técnico Innovation Summit 2026

Técnico Innovation Summit 2026 (TIS 2026) is the main annual gathering of the Instituto Superior Técnico innovation ecosystem and will take place on 3 February 2026 at the Técnico Innovation Center (TIC). In its second edition, TIS 2026 brings together Research and Development Units, projects funded under the PRR and European programmes, Técnico spin-offs and the Partner Network, in a full-day initiative dedicated to applied science, knowledge transfer and technological entrepreneurship.
Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment Department (DECivil) of Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, will be represented at the event through the participation of faculty members and researchers in several moments of the programme, addressing key themes for the sustainable transition of the built environment sector, as well as through the presence of the research centres CERIS and CiTUA, which will host their own stands and demonstrations throughout the day.
In the morning, at 10:30, Professor Manuel Pinheiro will take part in the panel “Advanced Materials, Circular Economy and Green Buildings”, where innovative solutions for sustainable construction will be discussed, with a focus on new materials, circularity strategies and practices that promote high-performance green buildings. On the same topic, 15pm, CiTUA’s investigator Joana Brandão will join the discussion.
In the afternoon, at 14:30, Professor Maria do Rosário Partidário (CiTUA) and Professor Luís Picado Santos (CERIS) will participate in the panel “Sustainable Energy, Smart Cities and Mobility”, contributing to the discussion on the role of civil engineering in developing more resilient, efficient and people-centred cities, through the integration of sustainable energy systems, smart urban planning and mobility solutions.
The Técnico/DECivil spin-off StoneBrick will also be present, highlighting the Department’s role in valorising scientific knowledge and translating it into business and industrial applications.
DECivil’s participation in TIS 2026 reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainability, fostering dialogue between academia, industry and decision-makers in strategic areas for the future of territory, infrastructure and the built environment.
