The architect and researcher Ana Tostões, Professor in the Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment Department at Instituto Superior Técnico, has been officially inducted as a Member of the Académie d’Architecture in a ceremony held in Paris on November 19.
She now joins a select circle of globally recognized figures in architecture — including Rafael Moneo, Jean Nouvel, Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, Gonçalo Byrne, Paulo David, Álvaro Siza, and Eduardo Souto de Moura. This honor highlights the international impact of her work as an academic, researcher, and influential voice in architectural thought.
In 2024, Ana Tostões was also awarded the “Médaille de la critique et des publications – Prix Académie d’Architecture”, a distinction given to individuals who enrich architectural discourse through research, critique, and scholarly publications.
Founded in 1671, the Académie d’Architecture is dedicated to promoting high-quality architecture, urban planning, and the built environment, while also preserving documentary heritage that chronicles the history of the discipline.
