Final year students of the Master's degree in Civil Engineering win the final phase of ICEC in Romania
The final year students of the Master's degree in Civil Engineering, in an initiative of the Civil Forum, won the final phase of the ICEC (International Civil Engineering Competition), which took place in Timișoara, Romania, from 14/07/2024 to 21/07/2024.
The team from Lisbon (IST) was composed of students Maria Margarida Barriga (Specialization in Geotechnics); Mariana Gameiro (Specialization in Construction) and Eduardo Rodrigues (Specialization in Geotechnics).
They were selected on April 30, during the local phase of ICEC 2024 organized by Fórum Civil. The competition consisted of three tests: Structures, Hydraulics and Geotechnics. They were accompanied by Professor Carlos Tiago, student Miguel Tavares and Professor Rafaela Cardoso, respectively. The following four teams entered the competition:
- Fellenius: Margarida Barriga, Eduardo Rodrigues and Mariana Gameiro;
- Constru_turas: Beatriz Jesus, Daniela Silva and João Damião;
- BobTheBuilders: Duarte Faria, Sofia Guerra, André Paiva;
- Trolhas 100 juízo: Pedro Rio, Mariana Nunes and Rodrigo Farinha.
The winners were the Fellenius Team, which went on to compete in the final in Romania.
The winning team was accompanied in Timișoara by student Rafael Francisco (Specialization in Hydraulic and Water Resources), as an observer and representative of Fórum Civil.
Nine teams with three members each, from the cities of Lisbon, Porto, Thessaloniki, Budapest, Belgrade, Ankara, Karlsruhe, Timișoara and Mexico, participated in this phase.
The competition consisted of three tests, with technical questions in Geotechnics, Construction, Urbanism and Structures. The final classification was:
1st place - Lisbon (Portugal)
2nd place - Karlsruhe (Germany)
3rd place - Thessaloniki (Greece)
